4 Ways to Ease your Wordpress Installation

Date July 13, 2007

There are only two major obstacles you will face in the course of maintaining your blog. The first being Content, and the second being Technology. The latter can be very time consuming to deal with if you are setting up your blog for the first time, or if you are installing a fresh update of Wordpress ( as I just have).

Here are 4 nifty ways to save you a lot of time, and subsequent headaches. After all, if you are spending all your time setting up your blog, when will you ever get down to writing content for it?

  1. Automatic Plugin Installation - Plugins make our life SO much easier than hardcoding php or html. While it’ll take you considerable time to find the best one’s for your blog, your first download needs to be PluginInstaller. This tool will take the hassle of downloading the plugin archive, unzipping and then uploading via FTP out of your way forever!
  2. Integrated Firefox FTP - I’ve been using this lifesaver of an extension since the inception of this blog. No more bulky software FTP clients. FireFTP converts your Firefox into a simple and powerful FTP client where you can upload and download your files from remote servers. It also allows you to manage multiple ftp accounts within a single Firefox profile.
  3. ColorZilla is a cool extension which allows you to check out colors using a color picker, or you can choose from an entire palette. This is particularly useful for customizing your blogs look and feel
  4. Multi Upload for Wordpress - Attach infinite files using the Wordpress front end.

I’ll be sure to include more WP time-savers soon.
