5 Secrets Harry Potter Can Teach Us About Blogging

Date July 21, 2007

Harry Potter and the Deathly HallowsAccio! He screams, drawing in more backlinks than ever in the finale to the seven part epic series. Harry Potter is in all probability one of the world’s most recognizable brands, and a favourite of whether you’re a witch or a muggle. But what does dear ol’ Harry have to teach us about blogging your way to success? By Merlin’s beard, we’ll dispel his potion yet:

  1. Press Release : While chances are your blog probably won’t hit the front page of CNN, Pottermania sure did. With the launch of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows , US retailers have been blown away by the buying frenzy that ensued minutes after the book’s official launch. The key here is that a good Press Release can mean oodles of juicy traffic to your blog or website. Find out more here
  2. Dare to be Different : Harry Potter isn’t like any other wizard out there , and your blog shouldn’t be either. Dare to put a unique spin on your content. Brand yourself by choosing a different theme than the herd and you will distinguish yourself from the rest.
  3. Making Magic Requires Dedication : It takes a lot to keep tabs on the Dark Lord himself…or umm Google in our case. Don’t expect to be in the Technorati top 100 in your first month blogging. That’d just be silly, as there are no shortcuts to success. If you’re an overachiever like our boy Harry, post at least once daily to keep the blogging blues away.
  4. You Can Still Make it Big as an Orphan : So you just started a new blog and don’t have any links? Boo hoo - Don’t worry you’ll make it big once you show your stuff. Harry wasn’t all that in his 1st year at Hogwarts either. Whether it’s performing spells with perfection, or mesmerizing your readers with quality content through pillar posts - you will make it to the top if you try hard enough.
  5. There is Strength in Numbers : Harry wouldn’t have made it as far as he did without the aid of his trusty friends and the wizarding community backing him up against the big baddies, and you won’t either. Make friends within your niche quickly, and you’ll loads of passive and residual traffic for your blog. Besides, sharing the love and growing your community will only make you seem like more of an expert in your niche than anyone else. I know Harry did, and look at how far it’s got him now!

It took 7 long years for Harry’s journey. Hopefully, it’ll only take a fraction of that time for you to succeed with your blog by applying these same principles. I hope all you Harry Potter fan’s have got your copy of the 7th book - If not order Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows through Amazon.ca for 50% off, and it’ll only cost you $22.50 CDN :)

I think someone is stealing your blog posts and reprinting them with tons of Google AdSense around them. This can destroy your reputation with Google. I’d recommend informing them immediately of the situation before they penalize your blog. Here is the copied content
