How I Broke The Top 500K Alexa Ranking
August 15, 2007
I chanced upon a very welcome surprise today from Alexa! Daily Moolah dot Com has shattered the Top 500,000 sites as rated by Alexa :). It’s only been a month since my first post on July 13th 2007, and this blog has been steadily climbing in its Alexa ranking from 2,000,000+ to 1,500,000 and currently stands at #436,328 as reported by Alexa.
Although there are literally thousands of blogs that have a more established Alexa rating, I am proud to say that this steady climb has been achieved only through natural and social media traffic, and no gaming of Alexa has taken place. I am well aware that some sites employ techniques involving iFrames, traffic bots, and even cheap traffic from third world countries - but I see little value in gaming a system that has little value other than that held by services such as Text-Link-Ads and ReviewMe.
That said, I’ve just updated my TLA profile details and Daily Moolah dot Com is officially accepting advertising through Text-Link-Ads. You can check out the package here . Links are going really cheap right now @ $0.50 a day! This is reflective of my Alexa ranking of 1,456,487 before the Alexa update, so it’s best to secure your link on Daily Moolah fast.
This blog is continuously growing, and I want to show you the few steps I took to increase my Alexa ranking:
- Install the Alexa for IE or Sparky for Firefox toolbar
- Set your site or blog as your homepage
- Use Alexa redirect url’s to provide Alexa information on incoming traffic. A lot of your visitors won’t have the toolbar installed, so it’s best to give them a link that is Alexa+. Your URL will look like: http://redirect.alexa.com/redirect?www.yoursite.com
- Drive huge amounts of traffic to your website by participating in forums such as Digital Point, and by using Stumble Upon as a tool to drive social media traffic to your website.
- Post quality content regularly to your blog and watch the traffic pour in.
I hope that those you struggling to gain Page Rank or Alexa ratings have gained some inspiration from this post. Stick to your guns, and you will succeed ![]()

when i started to increase my alexa rank i used the redirect from alexa to my website, and installed the alexa toolbar and would flick through the my pages a few times so alexa know that the pages are there and my alexa increased but that was about 3 months ago and i left it since then and it shot back up again
