How NOT To Get Banned By Digg

Date August 17, 2007

There are a couple of factors that judge the popularity and alleged credibility of your blog or website on the internet, such as your Google Page Rank, Alexa Ranking, and Technorati Rating. While these are given the most weight, the strength of your social media profiles is just as important to drive traffic to your blog.

So how do you go about tipping the social media scales without setting off any alarms, and getting banned by Digg or Technorati in return? It’s happened to countless webmasters including the infamous John Chow, and they’ve all suffered from the subsequent loss in traffic. If you’re smart you’ll know how to ask a friend or two to Digg or Stumble you, but with this tool you won’t ever get caught again :)
Anonym. To is a service run from Germany based Gulli.Com. Is this a proxy? Well in some regards yes it is, but a highly useful one at that. Webmasters can use this tool to prevent their site from appearing in the server logs of referred pages as referrer. The operators of the referred pages cannot see where their visitors come from any more. Instead, all they see is Gulli.com as the referring website.

So what does this mean for you? Sites such as active forums that promote influencing social media voting don’t show up as the referring url to the likes of Technorati or Digg anymore. As a result, you are safe from prying eyes and end up getting the better end of the social media votes while eliminating any chance of getting banned.

Here’s how it works: Just replace the template url with your blogs and fire away http://anonym.to/?http://www.yoursite.com

Remember, the best way to eliminate your chances of getting banned from any social media service is to use them responsibly :)

Digg recently banned my site although I only submitted about 5 out of 40 articles to them. It is a pain, so tools such as this would be very useful.

It’s so easy to get banned by digg, even if you are posting quality content. It’s rather unfortunate John, so tools like Anoym. To help us fight back!

Don’t you think Digg won’t be considering those sites whose referrals shows proxy sites since coming from proxy means something is fishy. I don’t think using Proxy for Digg is ethical and right.

Hey Navjot - People on both sides of the fence game the way content shows up. For example Google gives immediate trust rank to Wikipedia listings, and every story dugg by Kevin Rose has made it to the front page of Digg.

Sites such as Subvert and Profit also use a referring engine to mask the source of visitors to stumble upon or digg, and so far it seems to be working.

Equity in the online world is hard to work out in terms of ethics. Why does Google ban adsense publishers ruthlessly without explanation? Why does Alexa have skewed site rankings?…All questions we should be asking ourselves :)

BTW Subvert has hardly any job listed to digg or stumble.

I think the best way to earn is definitely by recruiting more referrals. Passive income is the best way to go!

But don’t you think when they notice proxy sites then they become suspicious about the account/user ???
