Daily Moolah August Blog Statistics
September 2, 2007
August was a month of unprecedented growth for Daily Moolah, with increased traffic, earnings, and all around visibility of the blog. Blogging is definitely hard work, and a lot more than writing quality articles goes into increasing the overall visibility, popularity and “buzz” about the blog. Let’s have a look under the hood to see what keeps Daily Moolah ticking.
Ranking Roundup
Daily Moolah started off the month with an Alexa ranking of 436,000 and a predicted Google Page rank of PR0. After writing 44 blog posts in August, my Alexa ranking has improved to 266,946 and I’m cut out for a predicted Google Page rank of PR4. According to Yahoo SiteExplorer, I have 759 backlinks to this domain, and a total of 554 backlinks according to iWebtool. Daily Moolah’s Technorati ranking has also improved from mid 250,000’s and an authority of 30 around the start of August to 103,426 and an authority of 56 during the end of the month.
Most of the backlinks can be attributed to the the Ultimate Guide to Leveraging StumbleUpon and the Win A Copy of The SEO Book by Aaron Wall articles.
Earnings Report
Total income for August came in from a variety of sources procured both online and off-line. Surprisingly enough, I got a few offers and requests for consultancy despite not having advertised any such service. This resulted in an overall income of $2123.46
- Private Consultancy: $2000 *initial + following retainer*
- Google Adsense: $51.46
- Affiliate Marketing: $45
- Smorty: $12
- Blogsvertise: $5
- Subvert & Profit: $10
- Grand Total : $2123.46
Running a blog is dirt cheap, and I’ve invested all of $25 + Hosting costs so far, covering the cost of two logo designs. I’ve purposely kept marketing the marketing budget negligible because I’m intent on seeing how far I can get using free services and bum-marketing tactics before re-investing the blog’s income into paid reviews, and direct advertising purchases.
Traffic Statistics

Traffic was considerably higher than July although there are loads of areas to improve upon. Here are the most important numbers to consider:
- Total Pageviews: 16,940
- Total Unique Views: 8,110
- %New Visits: 84.92%
- Avg. Time on Blog: 4 minutes 37 seconds

Referral sources provided the highest amount of traffic, followed by direct traffic and finally search engines. I’d definitely try to reverse the order of this precedence, so that I get the most amount of traffic organically through natural search.
- Referring Sites: 75.92% (6,157)
- Direct Traffic: 14.03% (1,108)
- Search Engine: 10.05% (810)
Interestingly, StumbleUpon provided the greatest amount of referral traffic, bringing in a total of 4,507 unique visitors. Top keywords for the month of August were :
- v7n directory review
- ultimate guide to stumbleupon
- get paid to digg
- make money online
- alexa redirect daily

RSS Subscriptions went up steadily over the course of the month before leveling out around 66 subscriptions on average. Increasing this number is one my primary goals, and I’m actively promoting my RSS feed to my readers. That said, if you’re reading this within your browsers right now, please sign up to my RSS feed as well. Just as an extra, I am providing a few secret chapters from Roger Hall’s killer 37 Adwords Secrets - Of course, this will be available exclusively to RSS subscribers so subscribe early to get your copy

Nice stats, I posted mine yesterday. I don’t know about going from a PR0 to a PR4 in one jump. I’m not an expert, but I think the best you can get out of the sandbox is a 3. At any rate, your blog looks great and I will be back.

Thanks for visiting Micheal. I checked out your blog as well, and its pretty cool. Have you considered switching to a self-hosted wordpress platform instead of blogger? It’ll give you so much more control over your entire blogging experience
