The Importance of Do-Follow Comments
August 5, 2007
As a blog still very much in its infancy, Daily Moolah dot Com will need as much link love possible to rise up in its search engine rankings. SERP ratings are extremely important for all website owners because organic search traffic is free and plentiful.
So how does a brand new blogger go about building their credibility in the blog world? That’s a simple answer to me - “do unto others and you would have them do unto you”. In that spirit, I’ve enabled Semiologic’s Do Follow plugin that will now allow a linkback to everyone that comments on Daily Moolah. Yes, I am opening myself up to more spam comments as well, but I have faith in my readers.
Now you can comment on Daily Moolah and get something back for yourself. This blog is gaining in popularity, so jump in to commenting on my posts, and get a free link back to your blog ![]()

Congratulations for joining to the Do-Follow movement…
That’s can do a bunch of comments only for the Links, but be carefully with the Spammers

Nice One Marlex - You’re the first to jump on the Daily Moolah link back train!

This makes a worthwhile addition to any blog, with the spam controls now available nofollow tags really are for lazy blog owners only!

Glad you guys like it - Do follow is the way of the future!

Didn’t know too much about the nofollow/dofollow stuff, but do now! Thanks for the info, and - by the looks of it now - a link back to my blog…

Hey Satish - Commenting here definitely helps build your back-links. I know you run your blog on the blogger platform, but hunt around and you might find a plugin to help you with that. You might be able to edit the php code to do the rel = no nofollow tag in your template
Cheers

thanks! How does one go about enabling no follow or do follow?
August 6th, 2007 at 6:22 pm
This is an excellent method of building links and helping each other out. I have implemented it on my blogs by enabling dofollow and posting useful relevant comments on other blogs that are related to the niche focus of my blogs. I use the relevant link in each blog, so that if a blog is about programming, my comment will have a link to my programming blog, and usually the owner of that blog will visit and leave a comment in my blog too. It works out really well and we all gain by it.
Way to go!!

Interesting idea! As a new blogger I’m always looking for ways to get more links to build PR, so this is great. Can you enable do follow on blogger or is it already there?
thanks, every link helps, like every penny helps!

This feature looks very good. Is there something like this on wordpress? If there is could someone please say in they’re next comment because I would like this on my blog because it will indeed get me more comments.

I just switched my blog to do follow and I have seen a huge increase in comments. It seems to benefit the site though.

Great idea, I’ve never thought of it that way

This is something i am thinking of doing as well, I just need to study a bit more about the effects of opening up my blog for link follow.
But this is true opening up link follow is a great way of attracting people to leave a comment and grow your blog.

Its ironic that many bloggers talk about this but then they actually use no follow.

You won’t find that on this blog - I fight spam, not bloggers!

This is a great plugin

Thanks for the great blogging tips! I cruised through while looking for suggestions on how to join the do follow movement for blogs if your blog is on blogger. Most of the info I’ve found is for plugins on wordpress, but I’m just starting my search. Ouch, I had blogger on the brain and entered my own url incorrectly in my last post, can you please moderate that post out? Thanks and I didn’t intentionally spam your blog. Claire

I wasn’t aware that there was a “do-follow” movement. In any case, I think it is a good idea because people should be credited for constructive feedback and commenting.

In the relatively short time you’ve been dofollow, was there a substantial increase in traffic and comments?
October 15th, 2007 at 10:27 pm
Hey Notebook Review - I’ve certainly seen an increase in comments, although I cannot directly correlate increase in traffic to enabling dofollow. Regardless, it’s a great practice to link back to those that take the time to comment on one’s blog — Dev

Never really understand how this no follow works. So i just follow what you say - Paste a comment. Have a great day.

@Fatiah
No follow means that you don’t get indexed by search engines for the comments, so no matter how many you leave, it doesn’t help your ranking.
Dofollow on the other hand, is just like its name, the search engines do follow the links so you get a better ranking :D…. Hope that cleared up your confusion.

Hi, great post on comments and do follow. I think dofollow comments are kind of like Entrecard, you have to work at it to get results. That’s a good thing. Thanks for the post.

Thanks for the post. I have just recently found the whole Dofollow movement. This is kind of like Entrecard-you have to use it to make it work.
