Sneaky Tactic To Boost SEO using Google Images
July 16, 2007
SEO is an internet marketing topic that I hold very near and dear to my heart. These days I have dozens of self-professed SEO gurus on the net, peddling their secrets to better SERP rankings. While some of them are good, I’ve found Aaron Wall’s SEO book to be the only definitive and constantly updated resource with regard to improving one’s SEO.
One way to phenomenally boost your SERP rankings is to use keyword branded images on your site. Here’s the quick and dirty way to go about it:
- Go to a site such as Google Images, Big Stock Photo, or iStockPhoto and download at least 3 images for each page you will display.
- Remember that most images will be copyrighted, so it’s always best to get Royalty free images. Once you have the image rename it to this format : ‘keyword1.gif‘, ‘keyword2.jpg‘ etc, to fit the keywords you are using in your post.
- Include the variations of the keywords in the image ‘alt‘ tags. This will ensure that you have your keywords covered both in the title, and the description.
And now, you can sit back ( just for a little while) and watch your SERP grow ![]()

Speaking of Google, perhaps it’s time to admit that the emperor is buck naked? Google is no longer an asset to small business. It’s digressed into a black box designed to extract as much money as possible from small business while giving back as little value as possible. This piece explains why Adwords is something to be skeptical about: “Why Google Adwords is Not Helpful to Small Business” http://smartstartup.typepad.com/my_weblog/2007/07/a-fable-doing-b.html

I completely agree that we aren’t in 2003 anymore, and that it isn’t as easy as it used to be to make money with AdWords. But let’s face the facts for what they are - A business that is not dynamic is a dead business.
Adwords has changed fundamentally since 2003, and Google has made it a whole lot harder to make any significant profit off it. However, there are many who make a decent living off it, and some who make millions. The ‘trick’ (I call it hard work) is being able to keep up with the changes and be the among the first to adopt them.
